Students and instructors ponder SDB polity at Summer Institute intensives in 2016.
The SDB School of Ministry is pleased to announce that registration for Summer Institute in 2017 is now open. Summer Institute is a training and teaching ministry of the SDB General Conference meant to train and teach SDB pastors and leaders specific aspects of the distinctive faith and practices of Seventh Day Baptists. Successful completion of the classes is required for those who desire official credentialing by the General Conference.
This year’s Summer Institute will be on Sabbath Theology, and will take place in two sections beginning in February 2017.
The first section of the class will begin in February 2017 and consists of an online class which will review course materials and facilitate online participation among the participants. The second section of the class is a week-long intensive held at the Seventh Day Baptist Center in Janesville, WI from June 4-9. Students enrolling for the class must complete both sections of the class to earn a passing grade.
Registration for the class is $300 for students not currently admitted to one of the School of Ministry’s training programs. Seminary Education and SDBU students should contact the Dean with questions about their eligibility and enrollment for the class. Pastors wishing to take the class who need financial assistance are encouraged to approach their local church as well as contact the Dean for information about applying for continuing education funds to enable their participation in the class.
At this time, enrollment is only available for students inside the United States and Canada. We encourage international students looking for additional training to contact the SDB Missionary Society for more information about training options available in their area.
Students can enroll for the class online here, or download a paper registration form and mail or email it to the SDB School of Ministry care of the Dean, Nick Kersten, at the SDB Center (PO Box 1678, Janesville, WI 53547). Registrations must be received by January 25th in order for students to participate.
